Upcoming Events

 

Wolf Creek Yarns will be having a Yarn tasting at our May meeting.

If the members are interested there will be a charge.

Yarn Tasting is where you will get samples of new yarns to try, they can be either spring or fall yarns.

If you like the yarns you can purchase enough for projects at a discount.

If a member does not wish to be a part of the yarn tasting they may have show and share, or just knit.

The June meeting will be teaching the technique of Fair Isle.

 

May 21 & 22, 2011, Sheep & Fiber Fest Greene County Fairgrounds, Waynesburg, PA.

Bev who teaches at Wolf Creek Yarn Shop will have a class on how to use Raverly at a meeting.

The fall retreat for Bishop Conair is scheduled for Oct. 21, 22, and 23, 2011.

Bishop Conair spring retreat is being scheduled for April 20, 21, and 22, 2012 this is the second week after Easter next year.

The guild will have Kathy Stanley come back on June 25 and 26, 2011.  A signup sheet was passed around.  Kathy Stanley class will be at the Sewickley Public Library.

Correspondence

 

We received a letter from Wrapped in Love Foundation the mission of the foundation is blankets for adults and teens who are currently undergoing Chemo Therapy.

The members decided to make 12 by 12 squares, with a garter stitch edge around the squares to be turn in, at the June meeting.

Henri has volunteered to sew the squares together for the guild.

Knitters Fantasy:

The event will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Chaney High School in Youngstown.  The flyers are out; if you haven’t received one the information is online.

 

Finishing Class:

For those who could not attend the Finishing Workshop class.  The guild will have Kathy Stanley on June 25 and 26.    This class is going to be held at the Library.

Bishop Connare

I wanted to thank all of those that attended Bishop Connare.  We had a great turnout and a fabulous time was had by all.  We will book it for the weekend two weekends after Easter next year.

January Program

Finishing Class – will be held the third weekend of January 2011, both days Saturday and Sunday. There was a homework sheet passed out previously, and if you did not receive it, please contact Diane Patterson. Saturday the class will start at 9:15 and will end around 1:00 no break for lunch. HELMET LINERS

Diane has the unit that we are sending the Helmet Liners to and they are in Afghanistan.  If you made a liner, or more than one helmet liner, please write a note to go with each one for the soldiers.

Diane will collect them at the meeting on Monday, October 11 or, you can mail them to her.

Helmet Liners

We will be doing Helmet Liners to be sent to the Service Men and Woman. I have had several skeins donated to us from Yarns Unlimited. If you have any wool that can be used, please bring it to the meeting. The yardage for the Helmet liners is approximately 175 yards. The colors are black, dark brown, tan, olive green. The helmet liners will be due at the July meeting.

Autumn House Farm in October 2010.

The Guild will participate in a knitting retreat:

Booking must be done a year in advance. There is a limit of 10 participants, and the cost is $60/weekend which includes Breakfast on Saturday, and Sunday. Autumn House Farm is located in Rochester Mills, PA. http://www.autumnhousefarm.com/

The dates for this weekend are October 8, 9, and 10. As of this newsletter there is a waiting list.

Bishop Konear Center Retreat October 22, 23, & 24, 2010:

The retreat which is in Latrobe will cost around $100 for this weekend.

The Manning’s: Moon library Knitting Group

September 8, 2010 will be going to The Manning’s a huge yarn shop south east of York, PA on Route 15.

They have 4 openings left for this trip.(I believe it’s now down to 2 or 3)

Cost may be around $85 plus spending and dinner money.

Nicky Epstein is scheduled to have a workshop in Sewickley, March 19, 2011. The workshop will be at Sewickley Public Library

Devore Scarf Class

The Devore Scarf program will be held at the June meeting. The list of materials was in the October newsletter. Here is a link to view and read about the scarf. http://www.dharmatrading.com/projects/sprayscarf.html. Millie, a guild member, will be teaching the class.

We had a great time doing the Devore Scarf taught by Millie! I didn’t take any pictures this time, but when my scarf is finished I’ll post some closeups! Thanks Millie for teaching it, and thanks to the Guild for providing the chemical needed!!
